Zheng Wu Tang's Miao dao

Post by Seitch » Tue Jun 16, 2009 1:22 am

The review for this dao didn't mention what sort of lamination was used for the blade. Does anyone know?

I'm interested because Scott's review mentioned that the feeling of the blade was very close to that of an antique blade.

The Zheng Wu website lists several different lamination types. I think that most Chinese swords used the sanmai lamination. Was this Miao dao of sanmai construction?

Thanks.

AFAIK there is no sanmei (3 layers) on daos, they mention various methods of inserted edge styles (U-shaped twisted-core or soft steel wrapping around a hard steel cutting edge).
