Short CMC Video on Qi...

Post by G-Man » Tue Apr 22, 2008 9:37 am

I came across this short excerpt of Cheng Man Ching talking to his students about qi circulation. As I understand it, it's from a larger 5 DVD set that the Cheng family has put out recently.

All I know is it might have come from this DVD set:

I don't know anything else about the quality or quantity of the material on the DVDs.

The clip comes from the 4th DVD of the set. I have the set and it is an amazing experience. Image quality is quite good considering its age (black and white). It really gives you a feel of how the New York classes were. There are intersections with interviews with Maggie Newman, Ed Young and Ken van Sickle.

Content :
DVD 1 : form
DVD 2 : sword
DVD 3 : pushing hands
DVD 4 : Chi (talking about Chi, calligraphy and flower arranging)

However, it is not a DVD for beginners or how to learn Tai Chi. Apart from that, highly recommended. If you like There Are No Secrets, you can probably appreciate this set.

I tried to get There Are No Secrets, about 5 months ago. The note came back from Amazon just this week that they had exhausted all their avenues and couldn't get me a copy. If anyone knows where to get it, I appreciate that. The excerpt from the CDs put up here was very helpful but purchase of the set will have to wait.

Doesn't T'ai Chi Magazine carry that book? They list it.

The same youtube user also posted another clip of Zheng Manqing doing the complete form as a much younger man:

If you look in the "Related Videos" portion of that page, you'll likely find links to Zheng doing the form when he's older. Makes for an interesting comparison.
