Brush Knee

I've just been perusing youtube for fight clips. As you do.
I came across Cung Le teaching his method against low kicks (in three parts) that look to me similar to Taiji's brush knee.

I know brush knee sweeps the arm outward, and Cung Le's emphasis is to curl the arm inward to grab the leg. But it looks like the machanics are 70% similar. I found it interesting about "bracing the front leg" by dipping into a low bow step. Typically I have been advised that firmly planted bow steps are for training in forms practise and during free play you are more lighter and upright.

I like how simple the technique is.

Sweeping the arm in, he absorbs the kick. This helps in catching the leg, but if he moved the arm outward, he wouldn't get kicked.
