Daodejing translations

Post by velochy » Thu Jul 26, 2007 12:29 pm

As Taijiquan is based on Taoist philosophy a lot of which is based on Daodejing, it seems an appropriate place to ask - Which translation of the mentioned book do people suggest. There are 3-5 translations into Estonian and I'm familiarizing myself with them. However, since there are hundreds of translations to English, its doubtful i could browse through them all. From what I have read on the topic, it was written to be quite obscure, so no matter how good the translation, something is still lost. That said, some translations still bring more across than others.

So, can anyone suggest a good translation or translations?

Also, I heared something about another book called Daoiching (not to be confused with the standard "I Ching" or "book of changes", or so I was told). Does anyone have any information on that?
