I just watched this Taiji Wrestling (Shuai Jiao) film:

I was wondering.. I've seen taiji chin-na books, and now this video.. I often times wonder what is a traditional aspect/area of the art and what is not. Are these two?
Thanks.

re
shui jiao is an entirely different sytem in it's own right, Is some times translated as chinese fast wrestling. I don't see much similarity as per priciples, however I've never studied shuai jiao so I cant say much more. See the chin na link for info' on it's relevance to YMT

Indeed, Shuai Jiao is a system in it's own right, but there are shuai jiao principles and applications in TJQ, too.
Shuai Jiao means grappling techniques including tripping, sweeping and trowing. Look at Repulse the monkey. The backward leg sweep in that one is a clear example of Shuai Jiao as a tactical component of TJQ.
Kind regards,
Tomita
