Hi, and two taijiquan webpages

Post by statisticool » Wed Sep 13, 2006 8:31 pm

Hi!

I've dabbled in the 37 posture form for a short time, enjoy it, and wanted to 'give back' in some form.

Using data I found on the net and in some books, I created a Zheng Manqing taijiquan family graph, located at

http://www.zhengmanqing.com/family.htm

I also created a page titled

"The Number of Postures in T?ij?qu?n Forms"

located at http://www.statisticool.com/posturecount.htm

Suggestions and corrections/updates needed for each page are mandatory. :)

Ineresting Chart, I noticed two places where you have to add lines, one is a line from Robert Smith to me, I studied with him for 5 years. The other is from Jesse Hersh to me, I was his first teacher for over five years before he moved north.

Thanks!

Those changes will be reflected in the next update.

May I suggest that you add Paul Gallagher, Ray Hayward & Paul Abdella as lines from T.T. Liang, they are all senior to me in this line.

Readers might be interested to know that Liang was Zheng's (Cheng's) Senior Student.

Hi Scott,

I noticed in a fairly recent thread you said
Wang Yennien created a 13 Posture Form at the request of the National Taijiquan Ass'n in Taiwan
Would you happen to know what year he created this? If so, I can add it as a datapoint to

http://www.zhengmanqing.com/posturecount.htm

Sincerely,

Justin

Sorry, I don't know, it was sometime ago though, since students were already practicing when I arrived in '83.

I would suggest it doesn't belong there, as it is derived from the Yangjia Michuan Taijiquan lineage & is a separate line from the branch that gave rise to Zheng Manqing's taijiquan.

Wow, so many Americans in the ZMQ tradition.
But: Where are the Europeans, especially Holland?
And the Taiwanese, who carry on ZMQ legacy?

I get my information mostly from emails now. If you have any names with relationship(s), feel free to submit them.

You may of course refer to my site at:

or the blog.

But it's all in Dutch...

Modesty,

Daar ga ik als ik even tijd heb, zeker es kijken!

Vriendelijke groet uit Gent, België

Guys, sorry for this little talk in Dutch. But I like it when I come across a fellow Dutch speaker on an international forum.

This also is valid for you, Peter Dekker. Many thanks for your signature, I have incorporated it into my dissertation about the Mongols

Kind regards,

Tomita
