It so happens that I recently bought Shadow boxer on dvd. Two reasons, firstly for the footage of a younger Cheng Tinhung at the demo in the beginning, and secondly because I liked the idea of seeing my style in a MA movie.
The guy who played Ku Ding, Chen Wo-fu, was Cheng Tin-hung's best student, according to Dan Docherty. It is a pity that he died at age 24 due to electrocution in bath so early in his MA movie career. Out of respect for his pupil, Cheng Tinhung is said never to have set foot in a cinema again.
So, what did you all think of the applications? (Apart from the cinematographic slow motion and the impact sounds?) It's the way we train them too, so I am curious for any thoughts...
Kind regards,
Tomita
