How to Make Padded Kids' Jian

Post by Linda Heenan » Sun Aug 30, 2009 8:10 pm

I've noticed, while looking around the internet lately, that a lot of people are taking an interest in teaching both taijiquan and swordsmanship to children. For the future, anyone looking for a solution to providing them with equipment may come here. Tashi and I combined to design these swords. He designed the blade and I designed the hilt. We are still using this style after four years, having not found anything that does the job better.

I'm putting up some links to construction of the Aussie design padded kid's jian. It's probably already here somewhere but not under such an easy to find title. These swords are suitable for younger children. As they get faster and more competent, they will want to move up to lighter wooden jian.
