Jumped in the Park - Matt O'Neill

Post by Linda Heenan » Tue Feb 12, 2008 9:12 pm

This is a story one of our teenage students asked me to put up on the forum for him.

Matt was walking his dog in the local park when he was jumped by three other teenagers armed with sticks. He was unarmed and, being a fast runner, decided that was the best way out. The others were also fast and not giving up, so he picked up a stick to use as a sword. One of the assailants swung a heavy strike at him and Matt automatically deflected with Pi into Ci. The duifang pulled his body back, so Matt, who has been practising from the applications DVD by his teacher, Scott Rodell, extended on one leg. This did two jobs. The first duifang was overcome and a second, coming in from behind, was kicked right between the legs as Matt extended into the Ci. The third attacker had now run away.

Matt said he was very scared. It was a real situation and he hopes to never have to meet it again. He says it was amazing to him that the things he had been learning were real and worked when he needed them. He also says ... and this one is for Laoshi ... he knows now what it must have felt like that day in Katoomba.

Comments are welcome and will be passed on to Matt.

Congratulations to Mat for trusting good movements from good teachers in a good lineage. This stuff was developed from many pragmatic tests over a long time. It is nice to know that the multipurpose nature of the moves worked in exactly the many against one situation they were intended for.
