Why does my Javelin tail keep hitting my shoulder on throws? I am a first time Javelin thrower and I noticed everytime I would throw the Javelin, it's tail would hit me in the shoulder or back. As a result it would only go 41 ft. What am I doing wrong?

Because the curve of your throw is not in sync with the axis of the javelin. You need probably a couple of months to find the correct angle, so the acceleration is in one line to the tip and center of mass of the javelin. Professional sports trainers who are familiar with that discipline might be helpful to progress in this. Was that a serious question ?
