Deer Horn Knives

Post by the_disciple123 » Sat Apr 05, 2008 11:12 pm

Hello everyone,

I've been trying to research into Baguazhang and find combat techniques applieing to deer horn knives, but i have been unable too find any reliable information on the subject. I was wondering if anyone who has had training in these weapons or knowledge about them could help me in my pursuit. Any information on this would be most appreciated.

I have never seen an antique pair of deerhorn knives myself, and as a civilian weapon it may prove very difficult to find out much, if any, reliable information about them.

Neither low-class civilian nor martial affairs are well covered in period texts. The only Chinese martial art that appears with some frequency in literature was archery, because this was one of Confucius' own hobbies and he had once exclaimed that it was the only proper way for gentlemen to compete. All the rest was considered rather barbarian by the literate elite and often ignored in their writings.

Good luck nonetheless!
