Nik,

The descrip on Seven Stars Trading Co. web site has it as black shark skin, not ray skin (My mistake). All I can say is it is smooth and even. Whether or not it is printed plastic foil I can't say, so Scott Rodell or Peter Dekker, who also sells Huanuo in Europe would have to comment on it.

Shark skin and ray skin look very different, this "pearl line" doesn't exist on a shark as far as I know.

If your pic is shark skin, then I was right and the Seven Stars description is wrong, as their web site and the black scabbard Royal Peony pictured in this thread has the small circular pearls, which looks like ray skin to me.
