help with LungChuan Jian...Updated

Post by MT Cup » Tue Mar 03, 2009 9:08 am

I have an older LungChuan jian, 20+ years old, with an ex-heavy combat steel blade. The handle has a crack in the wood and I decided to wrap it with a tennis racket overwrap. I have a slight creakiness when I rotate the handle as if the blade was loose or something. The funny thing is, it seems to creak more rotating from one side as opposed to the other. I have tightened the nut at the pummel several times but it doesn't seem to help. I don't know if the blade is loose at the hilt. How can I remedy this problem? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Updated: I tried to dismantle the pommel and handle but it seems to be epoxied on. I guess all the tightening from the nut protruding through the pommel was useless. How can I dismantle it now so I can tighten up the blade? I also need to replace the handle. Does anybody know where i can get this repaired? Thanks in advance.
