Re: Intent versus Chi
... Shortly after ( neigong ) when I let the intent go... fangsong I experienced an overwhelming ecstatic feeling mentally and physically through the back and around the crown. I experienced no adverse effect, for example, headache or pain. It just naturally dissipated after several minutes. Is thi...

Re: Design Help Need in Modern Vs. Antique Wing Chun Swords
There is still so many modern Chinese weapons being produced that no one can show any historical examples for. But think about, why would we want a modern/contemporary design from some one who never fought for his life with a blade. It makes much more sense to trust that the people who actually used...

Re: Dao Form Applications
... Does this also influence the general speed in training the forms of Jian and Dao? Both dao and jian forms should be practiced at regular slow taijiquan form speed up to full speed & power. Naturally, practicing both the basic cuts & short segments of the form, building from slow to full speed, ...

Dao Form Applications - Intent
There is one "error" that I noticed is common with the way dao forms are practiced today. That is they are typically practiced in the same fashion, that is with the same intent in the cuts and the way the body is used, as in the jian forms. I wrote error in quotes because it is not that many types o...

Re: Beijing Military Museum - Imperial Peidao
... hudiedao are been referred to as river pirate swords by many and although unknown to me as factual, it is very plausible that they were used in this way. I say this because of the images I have are from Taipei in the hands of militia, the photos date to the 1850/60s with providence and Taiwan b...

Beijing's Military Museum
When I was in China this past August, I went back to Beijing's Military Museum. Man was I surprise at how it has changed & disappointed. This Museum use to be sleepy at best, no one went. Then the government decided to make it free & part of "Patriotic Education." Now it is swamped with Chinese tour...

Yangjia Michuan Peng Technique
This week in class a question came up on how to deal with certain types of grabs to the wrist. We went over ways of using Peng to bounce the duifang's energy back into his or her center, jamming them up. After class, one student found a video of Japanese martial arts practitioners practice nearly id...

Re: Putting Together Huanuo Jian Without Fittings
Don't forget Huanuo blades are secured with a bolt at the end of the tang. If you use a double nut system, you should be able to secure the grip quite well. It's a good idea to place a washer between the nut & grip to prevent cracking the grip.

Re: Dao Form Applications
Chen Gong gives the application of Er Qi Tui , in his book as, "Use the left foot to pretend to kick & startle & scare the duifang . Use this opportunity to kick the duifang's heart or chin." The only reason why you would craddle the dao in left arm, is if the duifang is close enough to possibly get...
