miao dao grip and technique
I have a question that was raised in our training group a while ago. Our group consists of people from all kinds of disciplines, but all train practical swordplay. How does one hold the miao dao properly and which hand is leading. From the japanese disciplines we know that the left hand is the lower...

dao question
Here's a question that was asked during dao training yesterday. We're a group of people that come together every month to train in practical swordplay. We train mostly jian 98% and a little bit dao form. The people that train have different back grounds. In the taiji dao form there are several moves...

Re: eight banners
I find this one one of the most beautiful. The Qng had all kinds of Banners & no real proper National Flag until one was forced upon them by you Europeans... It's funny you write about us Eurepeans. All though I'm not absolutely sure, but I think it's the Brits who had a large influence there. They...

Sure there's a DVD... The Center produced a DVD of the Second Section, email me your address & I'll mail you one (or ...

Re: dvd?????
Hello Linda, we do have the red books. Last session we were using it to figure out a set of moves. As not native english speakers we had some issues on the translation. We had one guy standing as a puppet while the rest discussed which hand or leg should move to where. It works but I must admit a th...

Second Section DVD?????
Last weekend we had a 3 day seminar with one of Laoshr's students Anne Likold. We started on the second section of the michuan hand form. Since there is only so much you can do in 3 days and there is so much to share, we only could spend some hours on trying to memorize the moves. Details of course ...

eight banners
Since there is no GRTC Cafe or any other place for miscellaneous issues I pose the question here. For a presentation I would like to print the eight banners on A4 or A3 format. Unfortunately all that I was able to find on the internet is of poor quality. Does anybody know where to find good images o...

Re: michuan jian form? or not??
Thanks Linda! I noticed something about this. The visual people often learn quick, but do not train enough to get the moves into the reflexes, because they could do the move when they tried. I'm afraid that you are absolutely right. I am visual. I'm greedy. I want to go further and furthe...

Re: michuan jian form? or not??
Just an update on my original post. Coming weekend Laoshr is in Holland for a Yangjia Michuan Taiji Jian seminar. I will be there. In the mean time I have been practicing a few months now and I must say it is hard :( . It is more difficult then I thought even though I have a book and the dvd. I hope...

Re: michuan jian form? or not??
I think that if the learning would be only by dvd it will never work. The only reason I take this path is because people like Linda did it before me. And most of all it is the choreography I need to learn from the dvd. In the seminars I have learned the techniques and will learn much more in coming....

michuan jian form? or not??
Hello, currently I'm learning how to use the jian by attending workshops from Laoshi when he is in Holland. I would like to learn a jian form. Learning the michuan jian form is most in line with what I know about the jian and it's usage. Unfortunately, being based in Holland I won't have a teacher t...
