What about push-ups, on the palms, as in push, and on the knuckles as well, maintaining the proper wrist alignment. Or try hitting a heavy bag. If you hit the heavy bag wrap yout wrists, especially starting out.
Good luck.

Michuan and Chen Style
Is Michuan the Yang family counterpart of the Chen's Cannon Fist?
If this question is absurd, it's because I've never seen the Michuan fist performed.

Alignment, Direction in Big Chief Star
If helpful, use this key for clarity in the following discussion: Front cardinal direction ( v ), Left cardinal direction ( > ). Front left diagnal( \ ). On Direction I've seen two approaches to Big Chief Star regarding the direction of the right foot. In one, the right foot points forward (v) to th...

Scabbard Repair
I recently bought a new modern jian that I'm quite happy with for a student sword. After about a year however, the scabbard is beginning to show its faults. The scabbard fittings have become loose, and would probably slide off if not for the small tacks which hold them in place, along with what appe...

The Longest Jians
I see that a fairly well known Yang style taiji school here in the states advocates using a jian which, from the ground, reaches the sternum of its user. At 6'4 then I'd need a 50 inch jian. (That would put an end to a few lampshades and vases). I'm wondering, were those traditionally for men on hor...

Wudang Sword
Can anyone comment on the Wudang Elixer Sword Form?
Is it the primogenitor of all taiji sword forms?
What might distinguish it from the Yang sword forms?

Wrist Lock
From your replies it seems you did picture the lock correctly. Maybe I'll post a photo of it. Anyway, Roll-back and Repulse Monkey sound suited to the predicament. I'll try them. Peng sounds advanced in this scenario.

Escaping Wrist Lock
I was working with an Akido stylist and was unable to escape a wrist lock in which he turns the palm of my extended arm upward. Then he proceeds to bring my upward facing palm toward its inner forearm, and ultimately toward the ground. I inevitably collapse under the strain. Coiling to escape seems ...

Re: A few questions....
Linda asked: Is Grasp Sparrow?s Tail one movement or a series of them? I?ve heard it both ways? In Wile's Yang Family Transmissions: "Ward-off, Roll-back, Press and Push are born of Grasp Sparrow's Tail." --from "Nine Secret Transmissions", accredited to Yang Pan-huo

Re: A few questions....
Linda, you should be a reporter. Why should the tongue touch the roof of the mouth? Along with Roland's important point about accidentally biting off your tongue, there's also the saliva that's developed with the tongue up, which keeps the body cool. That's why it's suggested that you swallow the sa...

Bow Stance
1) Generally, bow stance weight distribution is given as 70% on the front, 30% on the rear. The front knee, to pomote stability and avoid injury, should be in line with, and not go beyong the toes. 2)Perhaps it varies at times depending on the move. For example the walking forward in search for snak...
