Re: Fajing on coke cans

I would like a return to the old 'challenge' system, where the combatants sign a death waver, and neither party can be legally prosecuted for any injuries or death that they delt. I have witten drafts of such a waver but legal advice I had been given says that since assult and manslaughter are crimi...

Re: Fajing on coke cans

Yes, they know exactly that they could never be so impressive and get same results as in these demos where other person is just standing and letting them to push. Demos with co-operative oponents show no more than only person`s ability to make such demos. Person can move very fast while performing ...

Re: Fajing on coke cans

It`s sad that these masters who really have skill, do not want to face professional MMA fighters. Real masters know exactly what they are capable of and do not feel like they have to prove anything to anyone else. Those who truely understands combat will know their value. Take Luke Holloway for exa...

Re: Fajing on coke cans

What makes you think that you could really do it in competition or in real self-defence situation? I was trying to put forward my point to that trainer that a boxing hands up guard is not impenetrable, and he put his hands up challenging me to do it. I am not the strongest guy in the world, and the...

Re: Fajing on coke cans

That is not an uncommon situation J, and did you and your instructor try to show him what proper taichi jing is like? If so, how did he react to that? I have seen quite a few kungfu instructors pickup taichi teaching to jump on the band wagon, and when they show applications, you can clearly see the...

Re: Fajing on coke cans

Thanks J & Scott, I think the degradation of ALL Martial Arts into passtimes for sports and health started long ago. The Martial Arts world (JianWu) in the past was full of hatred and vengence, that people like Huo Yuen Jia wanted the fighting to stop amoungst Martial Artists. He even called his fou...

Hi folks,
The straight translation from cantonese to mandarin of dim mak, would be Dian Mai, as the word Mak/Mai refers to the channel, while the word Xue (or Yu in Cantonese) refers to a specific point.

Re: Trying to teach Taichi as martial arts

Thanks J,
But I would not mind being on the receiving end of someone of higher level, just so I know what the 'quality' of the Jing feels like. Then I can use that experience as reference for my development.

Re: Trying to teach Taichi as martial arts

Thanks Psi Man, I would say that you can practise by yourself easy enough, but unless you are working with someone who is at same or better level, you can't really see how much progress if any is being made. Like push hands and sanshou for example, you can't really practise by yourself, and working ...

Re: Fajing on coke cans

I would love the opportunity to work with a sensor and see how much force my strikes actually impart, like they do on those Fight Science documentaries. Unfortuneatly, those shows don't really pick the best representatives of their styles, more like guys whom they have contact with who'll look good ...

Fajing on coke cans

Hi folks :D Here's a clip I did to demostrate fajing on coke cans. The captions are a bit preachy I know, but I was hoping to educate people a bit about how power in taichi and internal martial arts in general differs from the norm. I'm sure that the majority of people didn't know that there is powe...

Re: Trying to teach Taichi as martial arts

Thanks Psi and James for your words of kindness and encouragement :) I have tried to keep in the public eye and educate them about traditional Taijiquan. I occationally do youtube and public demonstrations when invited. This is from a demonstration at a multicultural festival last october; http://ww...

Re: YMT compared to Chen Style

I agree that its more important to choose a teacher then to choose a style. Also the personality of the instructor is important too. No good having a highly skilled teacher who hold back all the good stuff and only show them to his 'inner circle'. But judging from what you've said so far, I would gi...

Re: Trying to teach Taichi as martial arts

Thanks J, I know for a fact that each master will alter the art as they see fit, sometimes unintentionally. Look at three of Yang Cheng Fu's famous students. Cheng Man-Ching, Dong Ying-Jiet, and Fu Zhong-Wen are all disciples of Yang, and all three are considered the fathers of modern Taijiquan, but...
