Would you mind elaborating on this please?

My teacher is actually pretty good at explaining the martial applications. What I find confusing is that there are so many elements from the 1st and 2nd Duans but are altered subtly. So many smaller angle changes. It's not so much that it's difficult, just confusing in that there are so many instanc...

3rd Duan

Is there anyone else out there who finds the Third Duan as confusing as I do? My teacher has always described it as "a mindfuck," and now that I'm learning it, I can see why.

Some of that is just what I am trying to figure out. I am feeling the need to have a spiritual pratice. After reading a number of books which suggest that Tai Ji can be a spiritual practice, and since I already practice Tai Ji, I am trying to see how it can be used as a spiritual practice, how other...

Taiji as Spiritual Practice

I am curious about anyone's input, perspective, and/or experiences in using Taijiquan as a spiritual practice or tool for spiritual development. Any input would be helpful.
Thank you

Just chill out. Don't focus on the fear. Everything is the result of choices you make. Ask yourself why you are choosing to react with fear.

Qi follows the mind. The Yi (mind-intent or the analytical/logical aspect of the mind) can direct the Qi. If you are feeling something in your hands, it is the Qi being directed by or following the Yi, or by brining your awareness/Yi to your hands, you are becomming aware of the Qi which is already ...

In Chinese tradition (and thus the Northern hemisphere), the Emperor faces South. The Kidney relates to the water element, the heart relates to the fire element. When one faces South, one is in alignment with the world, the Kidney in the back of the body faces it's direction, the Heart faces it's di...

Please don't take this the wrong way, but instead of using numbers, why wouldn't you just use compass directions (north, south, etc.)? This is the way my teacher instructs, and is more in keeping with traditional Chinese philosophic tradition (I Ching, etc.) also probably one of the reasons we do th...
