I have a few question regarding single handed swords in regard to two handed blades. 1. Why are the one handed Jian and Dao so popular when there where so many historical examples of two handed swords? 2. Does training in single hand sword affect muscle development? I mean causing asymmetry due to t...

I would not recommend that sword for training. It weights too much at 2lbs 10oz (1,190grams). Also the point of balance is too close to the guard at 3 1/2". Historical Jian weighted from about 700g-900g, and the balance point should be at a bout 6" from the guard. For a good non sharpened training s...

What about the redesigned version of Kriscutlery Jian? I know Mr. Rodell reviewed their older version, but this looks very different from their previous model. By the way their newest model is quite ugly IMO the previous one looked much better. http://www.kriscutlery.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD...

Forms practice using a sharp blade.
I would like to know what the experts and teachers think about forms training with a live blade vs a blunt one. As a beginner I always practice forms using a wooden reproduction or an un-sharpened Adam Hsu Jian. I rarely use live blades for forms and almost only use them in cutting practice. The pro...

Yes I am a new student

It is nice to know it will be able to cut hard targets with it!

Obtaining cord for sword wrapping.
Hi! New to this forum.
I have a question regarding cord wrap on Chinese swords.
Also where can I purchase cord for wrapping?
I am mainly interested in trying out different materials like silk, traditional cotton and leather.
Thanks!
