Re: Yang Style Sabre
It has a quite normal curve and blade width, so if this has about typical length, weight and balance, it should move not any different than some military peidaos of the same size and curve. So why shouldn't that be functional . I wasn't saying it wasn't. Just the opposite ... What I am conjecturing...

Yang Style Sabre
Hi
This appears to be a "real" one, as in it's looks funtional as a sabre.

Re: Percussive cuts.
I think people get themselves into very silly conversations when we start making little distinctions between chopping and slashing and cutting and slicing and all of that. A "chop" is a percussive cut in my mind, but there is no standard definition for chopping. On the other hand, a percussive cut ...

Re: Buying from USA
First method: declare it with the toll code for antiques, not weapons, and ship it together with the papers documenting its authenticity. May require announcing this to the custom in advance. Second method: have someone bring it as antique by plane when visiting. Probably needs to be announced to t...

Re: Buying from USA
Hi Linda Thanks. From what the guy says it is the US side as it's he is being told he cannot export anywhere outside the US. I believe that the sword edges round the UK's sword ban as it is 100 years plus (c1900) and its not a cheap Katana type as used by our local "gangstas", who of course always a...

Buying from USA
Hi
I am negotiating on a Boxer Rebellion era Dao but US post office will not allow postage outside USA as it is a weapon.
I know people buy from the US ... so how do you get them out people?

Nan Dao
I have read that this is a made up weapon for Wushu only but there are a number of swords which have a ring pommel, an S shaped guard and straight single edged blade.
Has anyone found one which exactly follows the shape of a Nan Dao?
If so I'd be intersted to see a pikky
thanks

Regulation Qing Dao
I have seen pictures of various examples of Boxer rebellion era regulation dao, which have the scabbard fittings painted black.
Anyone now why this was done?
