This si a really god discussion. Thanks to KidPeng and Yowie Steve for your honesty. It can be easier not to be honest about this stuff some times. I think you did the right thing KidPeng, but unfortunately sometimes the right thing doesn't feel that way after the fact. When the risk is high (the kn...

Thanks for that, it's one I've been wondering about for ages and never gotten around to asking. Laoshi Rodell (perhaps this is a question that requires too much of an answer for here, but) when you say the same dao as in daoism, what is 'rough' translation of it's use (is it similar to the Japanese ...

Confucian social ladder...
One of the times Scott Rodell was over here (in Australia) he mentioned that martial artists (such as Yang Luchan) were, in the Confucian scale of things quite low in social status. I am wondering if anyone knows if this was martial artists specifically, or were they grouped with other similar 'prof...

I considered the Wuji to be physically, as well as philosophically. I mean, you don't have a full or empty leg, you are stationary and weighted on both legs, something not normally done in the form. So in this, there is no delineation (in weight) between Yin and Yang. Just kind of what I had assumed...

Creation of the system
I am wondering if there is any evidence, or oral tradidtion regarding whether all the material in the Michuan Taijiquan system as it stands came from Yang luchan. For example, the Neigong material. Did Yang Luchan have a relative that he received this info from, or was it from some of his martial tr...

Sections ?
Just wondering what the reasons for having sections in the forms were. In the jian form it seems that the sections are of uneven lengths (I could be wrong here), so it doesn't look like simple breaks in the form for ease of teaching or something. Also, is there evidence that they have always been se...

I often wonder as to whether one man (Yang Luchan) could put this whole system together, as we see it today, in his lifetime. What I mean is... is there any evidence or oral traditions that certain aspects were further developed or added after Yang Luchan ? For example; Did Yang Luchan have a knowle...

You raise an interesting comparison, the use of lethal force to defend loved ones (if required) verses the use of lethal force after the fact. I hadn't considered that one before, but it's a good one. That topic does of course come down to personal philosophy, as does the use of force to defend anyo...

While I think humility IS important (I have along way to go to achieve it...no wait, that was a humble thing to say, man I am humble...awww, now I'm not being humble again, what happened...man I'm so far off), I think that's seperate to the matter at hand. You don't need any martial training to use ...
