I similar experience last friday.. I've had accupuncture before.. but never an experience like this. The first time, I simply got off the table feeling like I was on drugs.. but nothing deeper than that. This time, was w/ a 5 element practitioner.. and started when he was checking my qi pulse. 'play the pipa'
I have seen Laoshi use a 'frog kick' (that is what I have heard it called.. please correct me if Im wrong) to strike an incoming jab. Previously, I had seen 'play the pipa' used very similarly.. although as a double strike against a jab..or punch.. at the time i thought it was poor taijiquan.. as I ...

The nanking integrated form
One teacher I have spent time with talks much of the Nanking integrated form. I am curious if anyone else on the forum has heard of it, or knows anything more about it.

Re: Practising
It takes a good teacher to set you off in the right direction (going through the gate requires oral instruction). But practising by yourself will develop your skill. Having just experienced Laoshi's first seminar in bozeman, mt. I completely agree. I was completely blown away by how much I learned....

i agree with you mimic. which is why I switched from rapier to a jian. nice and simple, and much better cutting ability in my opinion. I would like to add a bit more to the main theme of this thread.. I spar and fence w/ my brother quite a bit.. he has no martial training.. but is really, really goo...

It is very interesting what european fencing has become, from what it was. Until recently, I held a very similar opinion. but that is the way of sports. first you make rules, then you figure out how to use the rules to your advantage. In sport fencing, the 'flick' is a classic example, to get around...

their -disclaimer- is that you could get hurt if you don't use their sword. the GRTC disclaimer simply says you -will- get hurt w/ their swords. The disclaimer on a bottle of dr. pepper says, "if shaken, this product may explode" (in my experience, sadly, it doesn't though) and the disclaimer on nut...

Thank you very much for the replies. I would be very interested to check out the back strap design, if you ever have a chance.. having heard more about the subject, I may continue w/ a design i've been working on. One of the most comfortable placements I have found is actually under my left armpit. ...

Modern armour
Everything I have seen being discussed on armour so far, has involved historical armour. I love the look, and feel in tradition. but in practicce, it seems the most import thing is to be protected, so that you can test out and utilize the more dangerous aspects of swordsmanship. While doing research...

I went to the coldsteel to check out the dvd, (which looks awsome) but while there started looking at the machetes. My jian was made by kris cutlery. And (for my budget) was extremely expensive. so Im a little leary of using it for test cutting.. and a walmart machete was so cheaply made as to be al...

The Jian for the Active Outdoorsman
Hello all. I have a tendancy to practice with my Jian on craggy peaks and such, that take extensive footwork to reach.. and I have yet to find a way to carry my jian that is comfortable and urgonomic. Has anyone come up w/, or researched a harness that allows full body movements, including running a...
